After ten weeks of walking, running and doing other physical activity in many forms, a group of over 300 staff at Prince County Hospital have achieved over 10,600 hours of physical activity.

The second annual March into Health, an activity challenge organized by staff to boost their own fitness levels, is wrapping up. In early March, the March Into Fitness Challenge was launched and staff signed up to form 12 teams.

On March 9, staff celebrated their achievement at a special evening staff awards ceremony and variety show. Kelly Phillips, Captain of the Better Bodies team, commented that, "It was such a fun event to get involved with because staff were so spirited to achieve great results. The additional physical activity in our lives has given us more energy and an overall sense of well-being, and I think many people are looking at long-term changes to their lifestyle." Maureen Paquet, Wellness Coordinator for the health region, added that, "The staff are delivering a strong message to the public on the role physical activity plays in improving and maintaining health. East Prince Health is now promoting a comprehensive workplace wellness strategy for all of its 14 worksites which includes increased physical activity as a primary objective. "
