Price Increase

The Prince Edward Island Liquor Control Commission announces the retail price of domestic beer will increase effective July 1, 2006. The new retail price for beer will increase to $19.30 per dozen – an increase of $0.50 per dozen over last year. Included in the retail price is the $1.20 empty bottle refund.

The Brewers requested this price increase as a result of experiencing substantial pressure on costs as well as the new Excise Tax rates that are effective July 1, 2006. The beer manufacturers increased their prices to the other Maritime Provinces in May of this year.

There will be no price changes on wines and spirits at this time.
