Premiers to Meet in Quebec City

Premier's Office
Premier Pat Binns, on behalf of Canada's Premiers, confirmed that Premiers will be meeting in Quebec City on October 24. Premiers reviewed progress toward the formation of the Council of the Federation on a conference call yesterday, and discussed the agenda for their meeting.

The meeting on October 24 will focus on discussion of the mandate and structure of the Council of the Federation. The new Council of the Federation will provide leadership in tackling the issues that matter to Canadians and are crucial to the future of the country. Due to unavoidable scheduling conflicts created by provincial elections, Premiers agreed to meet again in early December to finalize work on the establishment of the Council of the Federation.

Premiers noted that the meeting on October 24 will also provide an opportunity to discuss the informal meeting Honourable Paul Martin has proposed for November 16.
