July 23, 2004 Premier's OfficeCanada’s Premiers have agreed to meet with Aboriginal Leaders to hear first hand about aboriginal health issues. Following a meeting with National Chief Phil Fontaine, Premier Pat Binns stated, “I agree that it is important to consider aboriginal interests in the overall renewal of health care in Canada, and I raised this with my colleagues. I am pleased that Premiers will be meeting with Aboriginal Leaders in Niagara-on-the-Lake to hear directly about their concerns and priorities.” Premier Binns was invited to address the Assembly of First Nations at their 25th Annual General Assembly in Charlottetown. Binns welcomed delegates to Prince Edward Island saying, “Our First Nations communities have played an important role in the history of Prince Edward Island, and you continue to play a role in determining who we are as Canadians and where we are going.”Media Contact: Patrick Dorsey
