Premier Tours West Royalty Industrial Park

* Economic Development [to Jul 1998]
Premier Pat Binns and Minister Wes MacAleer visited businesses in the West Royalty Industrial Park on Wednesday. The tour consisted of visits to Tube Fab, Seaman's Beverages, Diversified Metal Engineering, Diagnostic Chemicals and Padinox.

"I am very impressed with the growth of the industrial park," said Premier Binns. "It has served as an effective development tool, both for establishing businesses which have gone to locate outside the park, and as a prospecting tool to attract new business to the Island."

"There are currently 1,700 people employed at the 50 businesses operating at the 100-acre park," added Minister MacAleer. "There is a productive mix of businesses here, from the traditional manufacturing and processing operations, to the more specialized and new technology-based enterprises."

Gross sales are estimated at $100 million and the payroll of all businesses located in the park is almost $25 million. The companies sell products on-Island as well as to the rest of Canada, Europe, the United States and Asia.
