Premier Pat Binns and fifteen members of the government caucus registered the first team in the "Children's Wish Foundation's Survivor Challenge." The CWF Survivor Challenge will provide an opportunity for fun and comradery, while raising important dollars for a worthwhile cause. "The Children's Wish Foundation is an important organization in our community. I am certain that the CWF Survivor Challenge will be a successful event and am excited to be a part of it," said the Premier.
In order to participate in this first-time event, Binns and his team of 15 other eager survivors have agreed to raise a minimum of $1,600 in pledges. Each member of the team will be matched with a character on the televised version of the Global series. As contestants are eliminated on the TV show, so too are corresponding participants in the CWF Survivor Challenge. The fun concludes in January when teams from all over Prince Edward Island send their last remaining survivor to the Delta Prince Edward for an evening of activity and a chance to win some great prizes, including two tickets anywhere Air Canada flies. "Our objective is to ensure that as many teams as possible have an opportunity to get in on this exciting initiative. Obviously, the Premier recognizes the important work of the Children's Wish Foundation," said Challenge Chair Cindy Harris.
The Children's Wish Foundation is a non-profit organization that relies on the generosity of Islanders. Through donations and events such as this, the Foundation grants wishes to children suffering from high-risk, life-threatening illnesses. Organizers see the "CWF Survivor Challenge" as evolving into a major annual event.
"I encourage as many Islanders as possible to become involved with the Children's Wish Foundation; the CWF Survivor Challenge is an ideal vehicle," observed Premier Binns.
