Premier Pat Binns is pleased with the federal government announcement today regarding the funding of Prince Edward Island projects through the Atlantic Innovation Fund.
"The projects highlighted today are ones that the provincial government has committed support to as well and it's encouraging to hear that federal government funding is in place to augment efforts on these projects," said Premier Binns
Provincial government involvement for these projects is valued at more than $5.3 million:
Centre of Repair Excellence, Atlantic Turbines International - $1,000,000
Atlantic Natural Products Development Initiative, Food Technology Centre - $850,000
MDS-PRAD Facility, MDS-Prad Technologies Corporation - $2,500,000
Atlantic Canada Network on Bioactive Compounds, UPEI - $300,000
Lobster Research and Development Facility, UPEI - $300,000
Centre for Aquatic Health Sciences, Atlantic Veterinary College - $400,000
"These are all valuable projects which will greatly benefit our province," noted Premier Binns. "I wish to congratulate Prince Edward Island's academic, research and business communities for their efforts in securing the necessary funding to proceed with these worthwhile initiatives."
