Premier Pat Binns announced today the Province’s Web site has added a link so Islanders can send best wishes to Kara Grant, the Stratford native who is competing in the modern pentathlon at the Olympic Games in Athens, Greece.
Grant is the only Islander competing at the Olympics and is the province’s first summer Olympian since Kensington’s Anna Pendergast in 1984.
“Kara has worked very hard to achieve her goal,” said the Premier. “On behalf of all Islanders, we wish her the best of luck in her quest for Olympic success. She is a credit to her community and will represent our province well at the Summer Olympics.”
The modern pentathlon incorporates the disciplines of swimming, showjumping, fencing, cross country running and pistol shooting.
“I, for one, will be watching with great interest, cheering for Kara and the rest of the Canadian team. I encourage Islanders to visit the Province’s Web site at www.gov.pe.ca or www.karagrant.net to send a message of encouragement to Kara,” said the Premier.
