Premier Robert Ghiz issued a statement Sunday on the recent passing of Rory Beck, Clerk of Executive Council:
"Rory Beck was a tremendous public servant and friend who made a remarkable contribution to Prince Edward Island life.
"As a senior official at both the federal and provincial levels, Rory played a central role in most of the key decisions made in this Province over the past 20 years."
Premier Ghiz said that Beck's " ... leadership qualities, and his unique ability to handle complex files and get results, earned him the respect and admiration of his peers and the most senior position in Prince Edward Island's public service.
"Knowing and working with Rory Beck was an honour and a privilege. We will miss him greatly. On behalf of my family, the Government of Prince Edward Island, and all Islanders, I want to express sincere sympathies to Gaylene, Luke, Jacob, Dylan and the entire Beck family."
