Premier Robert Ghiz is pleased to announce Government’s support for the first regional True Patriot Love Tribute Dinner, announced in Fredericton today by the True Patriot Love Foundation.
“This major fundraising event will benefit members of the military and their families in both New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island,” said Premier Ghiz. “Islanders have always been very supportive of our military throughout the years. As a matter of fact, in 2007, we were pleased to pass legislation that would ensure reservists are welcomed back into the workforce upon return from tours of duty or training.”
The first regional True Patriot Love Tribute Dinner will be held in Fredericton, New Brunswick, on Thursday, October 28, at the Delta Fredericton. Attendees will include military family members, political and military leaders, as well as Canadian artists and entertainers. The current commander of Joint Task Force Afghanistan, Brigadier-General J.H. Vance is scheduled as guest speaker for the evening. Proceeds will be donated to the Wounded Warriors Fund, The Canadian Forces Benevolent Fund and the Military Family Resource Centres supporting the Canadian military and their families in New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island.
“The PEI Military Family Resource Centre provides valuable services to military families in our province, and I am pleased to see that the centre will receive some funding from this event,” said the Premier.
The True Patriot Love Foundation assists military families in unforeseen and urgent needs that result from military duty, including rehabilitation after an injury, educational support for children with special needs on remote bases, financial assistance in the case of injury or death, and urgent and extraordinary financial demands where the ability to provide family necessities is at risk.
