Premier Expresses Deep Sadness on Passing of Gary Robichaud

Premier Pat Binns today issued the following statement upon hearing of the passing of Gary Robichaud:

“Islanders have lost a dedicated public servant and a true gentleman. As an educator and political leader, Gary directly served thousands of Islanders with little need for recognition or public acknowledgment. He was one of the most personable politicians I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. Gary related very naturally with people and his popularity in the community was evidence of this.

While we not always agreed on issues, I always respected Gary’s ability to raise the level of debate. No one could ever question his sincerity or his love and commitment to this province and its people.

I want to extend on behalf of all Islanders, our genuine appreciation for his contribution to the betterment of Prince Edward Island and our sincere condolences to Gary's family for their tremendous lost.

On a personal level, my wife Carol and I would like to express our heartfelt sympathy and prayers to Jacquie Robichaud and their daughter Julia at this very difficult time.”
