"On behalf of our Government and the people of Prince Edward Island, I wish to convey our profound sadness and shock on the tragic death of Diana, Princess of Wales," stated Premier Binns. "We mourn the loss of a person who was committed to working on many of the serious social problems facing the world today and who brought smiles to the faces of all those who knew her or met her."
"We offer our deepest condolences to her sons, William and Harry, to her family, and to the members of the Royal Family," said Premier Binns.
In an effort to allow Islanders the opportunity to express their own sympathies to the family, Premier Binns announced that a book of condolence will be available for all Islanders to sign beginning Tuesday at noon until 5:00 p.m., and again on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m., and on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until noon at the railing of the Legislative Chamber at Province House. "This book will give all Islanders an opportunity to express their sympathy to the members of Princess Diana's family," said the Premier.
The book will be sent directly to the family of the late Princess on Friday. The Premier announced that all flags will fly at half mast at all Provincial Government buildings during the period of mourning.
