Premier Binns Recognizes Contribution of Peter MacLeod

Premier's Office
Premier Pat Binns today acknowledged the passing of Peter MacLeod, a former Member of the Legislative Assembly. Mr. MacLeod died early this morning.

Peter MacLeod was first elected to the Legislative Assembly in 1982 and subsequently re-elected in 1986. Active in his community, MacLeod served as a School Trustee, Past President of the Cardigan Lions Club, and was involved with many sporting organizations.

"I always considered Peter an honest and sincere advocate for the people of the old 3rd Kings district. There was nothing ornate about Peter's approach, but he was extremely effective," said the Premier.

An ardent supporter of the agricultural community, MacLeod, as a member of the Legislature and many Legislative Committees, took every opportunity to advance the cause of the Island industry and farm families. Before entering politics and following his retirement from the Legislature, MacLeod operated a mixed farm in Lorne Valley.

Peter MacLeod leaves to mourn his wife Glenda and children Judy, Barry, Donna, Susan and numerous grandchildren.

"On behalf of my colleagues in the Government Caucus, I want to extend sincere sympathies to Glenda, their children and their families," stated Premier Binns.
