August 6, 2008 Premier's OfficePremier Robert Ghiz today announced the appointment of Dr. Michael Mayne as Deputy Minister of the Department of Innovation and Advanced Learning. Dr. Mayne was the chief author of the Island Prosperity Strategy, and has been working over the past several months on implementing the identified priorities. “Dr. Mayne has played a major role in crafting our government’s vision for the economic future of Prince Edward Island,” said Premier Ghiz. “I am confident that his appointment will serve to further advance our vision and move our economy in a direction that will benefit all Islanders.” Brooke MacMillan has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of the PEI Liquor Control Commission (LCC). Mr. MacMillan served as Deputy Minister of the Department of Innovation and Advanced Learning for the past year. He is replacing Wayne MacDougall who recently retired after 36 years with the LCC. “I wish to thank Mr. MacDougall for his work with the Liquor Control Commission and for his many years of service with the Province of Prince Edward Island,” said Premier Ghiz. “I wish him all the best in his future endeavours.”Media Contact: Erin Mitchell
