Premier and Minister Pause to Honour Dr. Kent Ellis

Premier's Office
Premier Pat Binns and Minister of Health and Social Services Chester Gillan took time today to recognize the outstanding achievements of Dr. Kent Ellis, who for more than 40 years served the people of Hunter River and the surrounding area. Dr. Ellis passed away last night.

“Dr. Ellis was a wonderful asset to his community for the many years he practiced, and afterward,” noted Premier Binns. “I’m sure that he will be fondly remembered for many years to come.”

Health and Social Services Minister Chester Gillan agreed. “Dr. Ellis was part of the social fabric of Hunter River for many, many years. His retirement created an enormous sense of loss in the community. To many of his patients, he was not only their doctor, but also their friend.”

Dr. Ellis served as President of the Medical Society in 1971, was a member of the Board of Directors of the Canadian Medical Association, and in 1998, was named a Senior Member of the Association. Dr. Ellis was also renown for his active participation as a volunteer in many community groups.
