January 19, 2007 Premier's OfficePremier Pat Binns today issued the following statement on the passing of Dr. John Hubert (Sock) O’Hanley: “Throughout his life and professional career, Dr. O’Hanley demonstrated excellence and dedication to the health and well-being of Islanders. For half a century, Dr. O’Hanley was a leading member of the Island medical community, helping improve the lives of literally thousands of Island children over the years through his skill and expertise. His numerous community contributions have been well documented, including investiture as a member of the Order of Prince Edward Island and creation of the Dr. J.H. O’Hanley Award of Excellence which recognizes outstanding contributions in the service of Island children. Dr. O’Hanley’s accomplishments as a veteran, as a physician, and as a community leader will not soon be forgotten.
