Robert Morrison, Returning Officer for the Prince Edward Island Marketing Council, announced there will be an election for the Potato Board in the Central District. Blair Caseley, Kensington and Gordon Waugh, Bedeque have been nominated to contest the Processing position.
In the West District, Blair Horne, Bloomfield has been re-elected by acclamation to represent the Seed position. In the East District, Robert MacDonald, Belle River has been re-elected by acclamation to represent the Table Stock position.
The Prince Edward Island Potato Board consists of nine members, three from each district consisting of one seed producer, one table stock producer and one processing producer. Members are elected to three year terms with the positions contested being staggered with respect to region and sector representation.
Election ballots will be mailed to registered producers the latter part of May, 1996. The deadline for return of the ballots to the Returning Officer is July 2, 1996.
