Potato Board Election Results

Gordon Waugh, Bedeque has been elected to represent the Central District on the Prince Edward Island Potato Board. Robert Morrison, Returning Officer reported that Mr. Waugh was elected following the ballot count of July 8, 1996. The deadline for the return of the ballots was July 2.

Mr. Waugh and Blair Caseley, Kensington contested the processing position. One hundred and eight (108) valid ballots were counted from the 180 registered producers of the Central District. Mr. Waugh received 70 votes and was declared elected. Mr. Waugh will be joined on the Potato Board by Blair Horne, (Seed, West District) and Robert MacDonald (Table Stock, East District) who were elected by acclamation.

The Prince Edward Island Potato Board consists of nine members, three from each district consisting of one seed producer, one table stock producer and one processing producer. Members are elected to three year terms with the positions contested being staggered with respect to region and sector representation.
