Islander Katrina Walsh and staff should be pleased with their contribution to the success of the television programs Emily of New Moon and The Sleep Room which have swept a total of 21 Gemini Award nominations between the two of them.

CINAR Productions Inc is a co-producer of the Emily of New Moon series, filmed here in Prince Edward Island, and co-producer of The Sleep Room mini-series along with Bernard Zukerman Productions Inc and CBC.

Islander Katrina Walsh operates a post production company which provides a service called Automated Dialogue Replacement (ADR), or Additional Dialogue Recording, as it is sometimes called. ADR is a process that involves recording performances by actors to correct technical problems.

Walsh, who does all the ADR for the Emily of New Moon series, began this service specifically for the Emily program but she has expanded to do other Canadian productions and The Sleep Room, filmed in Montreal, is just one of them. Walsh co-ordinated and supervised the ADR for this mini-series.

"These nominations are a clear indication of the caliber of local talent and the valuable contributions made by Islanders in the film and television industry. It is tremendous to see the dedication of those involved in this expanding sector on PEI receive the recognition it deserves," said Development Minister Don MacKinnon.

The Sleep Room is nominated for 11 awards including Best TV or Mini-Series and Best Sound in a Dramatic Program or Series.

Emily of New Moon has been nominated for 10 awards, including a nomination for Best Dramatic Series and a nomination for Islander Jessica Pellerin for Best Performance by an Actress in a Featured Supporting Role in A Dramatic Series.
