Plow Drivers Provide Top Notch Service Over Holidays

Prince Edward Island saw more snow this holiday season than it has in many years. Over the last two weeks, the Island was blanketed with snow from four different winter storms. But thanks to our dedicated and hard working plow drivers, sand truck operators and support teams, Islanders were still able to get where they needed to go over the holidays.

“Our plow drivers and sand truck operators deserve thanks from all Islanders after the incredible work they’ve done these last two weeks,” says Minister of Transportation and Public Works Ron MacKinley. “Many of these people had to sacrifice time with their families over the holidays to provide clear and safe driving on our roads. Without their hard work it would have been difficult for anyone to fully enjoy the holiday season.”

MacKinley goes on to say that dispatchers, support teams and mechanics also played crucial roles over the holidays to keep the plows running.

“The quality service these individuals provide helps insure the plows get where they need to go in a timely fashion.”

MacKinley says there is still a lot of work left to do, especially on secondary roads and in many parts of Prince County where snowfall was much heavier in the last storm. He asks all Islanders to exercise patience and caution as crews continue to widen and sand sections of road that may still be quite narrow and slippery.
