February 18, 2010 * Education and Early Childhood Development [to May 2015]The Department of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal is working with school administrators to plan for the addition of kindergarten classrooms, says Education and Early Childhood Development Minister Doug Currie. New funding of $2.1 million will be used to construct five classrooms requested by the Eastern School District at West Royalty Elementary School and five classrooms at L.M. Montgomery Elementary School. At Sherwood Elementary School, two mobile classrooms will be added, and renovations will be done to add space for small group meetings and special needs students. The funding was allocated in the existing capital budget in anticipation of new requests for more kindergarten space. Tenders for the construction will be called shortly.
