Petroleum Price Increases - Superior Propane Inc./Petro-Canada

The Island Regulatory and Appeals Commission announced today that approval has been granted to Superior Propane Inc. to increase the price of propane to all classes of customers by 3.9 cents per litre.

Superior cited increased propane acquisition costs as the reason for its request to increase prices.

The Commission also announced that approval has been granted to Petro-Canada to increase the price of all grades of gasoline contained in its dealer and posted consumer price schedules by 0.6 cent per litre.

Petro-Canada cited the requirement to reduce benzene in its gasoline products in accordance with new federal regulations as the reason for its request.

The price increases authorized become effective at 12:01 am on 12 February 2000.
