PEI's Second Annual Craft & Giftware Buyer's Market Set For This Weekend

Retailers are invited to participate in the Second Annual Prince Edward Island Craft and Giftware Buyer's Market being held this weekend, January 18-19, at the Confederation Centre of the Arts in Charlottetown. This two-day event is an excellent opportunity for retailers to source quality, Island-made products for the upcoming season.

"The Buyer's Market is one of several government initiatives designed to promote and enhance our vibrant craft and giftware industry," said the Honourable Mike Currie, Minster of Development and Technology.

"Valued at over $30 million annually, the demand for Island-made products exceeds the supply of local products each year. By supporting PEI craftspeople, programs like the Buyer's Market will help our craft and giftware industry realize its full potential."

This year's event features more than 20 new exhibitors, as well as over 40 returning producers of crafts, giftware and specialty foods. Open only to retailers, this wholesale show also features exciting seminars by two of Canada's top retail sales presenters.

"It's very exciting to see the Buyer's Market grow so quickly," said Project Coordinator Marie Walsh. "The interest in the show has been phenomenal and we're welcoming many retailers from off-Island to the event as well. There is a real interest in the marketplace for quality Island-made products."

The Prince Edward Island Buyer's Market is free to all retailers. For more information, contact Marie Walsh at Prince Edward Island Business Development at 569-7787.
