The New Festival of Wines presented by Investors Group will offer over 250 wines from across the globe, for guests to sample during two nights of Grand Tastings. This year’s event takes place at the Eastlink Centre in Charlottetown, May 23 and 24, from 7 to 10 p.m. and will include Australia as the feature region.
“We continue to introduce new offerings to enhance the wine tasting experience,” said Tracey Singleton, Event Producer. “There will be roving food stations, local cheese samples by COWS CREAMERY, Dairy Farmers of Canada and Glasgow Glen Farms as well as samples by PEI Blossoms, Medallion Smoked Salmon, Liquid Gold Olive Oils & Vinegars and the PEI International Shellfish Festival.”
The food stations available during Friday evening's Grand Tasting are presented by Red Shores Racetrack and Casino and will feature four unique food offerings. In addition, Red Shores is offering a Wine & Dine package on Friday night for only $60.00 per person, plus taxes including a full buffet dinner at Top of the Park and entrance to the Friday Grand Tasting. Redwater Rustic Grille will present the food stations at the Saturday Grand Tasting. New for 2014, Redwater will feature a Wine & Dine package on Saturday night for $75.00 per person, plus taxes which includes an exquisite local three-course menu, paired with a beautiful Australian Shiraz and entrance to the Saturday Grand Tasting. The Festival of Wines is proud to continue to support the Hospice Palliative Care Association of Prince Edward Island. Proceeds raised at the Wine Festival coat check each evening, as well as from the sale of raffle tickets will be donated to the charity. This year's raffle winners will receive a wine cooler and 24 bottles of wine.

The Prince Edward Island Liquor Control Commission (PEILCC) on-site wine boutique will be open Friday May 23 from 4 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. and Saturday May 24 from 3 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Tickets to the New Festival of Wines are not required to enter the on-site wine boutique. Festival patrons have the option to pick up their purchases after the Grand Tastings or at their PEI Liquor corporate retail outlet of choice. The on-site wine boutique will feature two special offers during this year's Festival. Customers will receive a $15 gift card redeemable at any of the PEILCC's 18 corporate retail outlets with every $100 purchased at the on-site wine boutique. In addition, customers who purchase any two bottles at the on-site wine boutique will receive a complimentary bottle of 19 Crimes Shiraz. The complimentary bottles offer will continue while quantities last and is limited to one per customer.
Public workshops to enhance your experience at PEI's largest wine tasting event will be held on Saturday May 24. All You Need is Cheese presented by the Dairy Farmers of Canada and Rossignol Winery is a complimentary workshop at Top of the Park at 2 p.m. As well, the Exclusive Wine Tasting session will take place at 3 p.m. The workshop will feature a tutored tasting of six wines from Australian producers and is offered at a cost of $40.00 per person plus tax and service charge.
