May 5, 2011 The Prince Edward Island Liquor Control Commission (PEILCC) is pleased to announce its 3rd Annual Wine Cooler Draw started May 1, 2011. Proceeds from this year’s program will benefit the PEI Association of Food Banks. “This fundraiser has been successful in generating over $40,000 during the past two years for other community organizations and we look forward to similar success with this year’s initiative,” announced Robert Vessey, Minister responsible for the PEI Liquor Control Commission. Each $5 Wine Cooler Draw ticket provides a chance to win one of 23 prize packages. Each prize package includes a free standing wine cooler and 35 bottles of a variety of red and white wine. Only 350 tickets are sold on each prize package and have proved to quite popular. Tickets can be purchased at PEILCC locations across the province. “These funds will provide a boost to our operations and will mean a lot to the Islanders who come to us for assistance,” noted Mike MacDonald, General Manager of the PEI Association of Food Banks. “Knowing that Islanders in communities across the province will be making this happen makes it that much better.” Over 37,000 Islanders use the services of food banks across the province every year. The PEI Association of Food Banks will use the results of their annual HungerCount to allocate donated proceeds to each of its association member food banks. Media Contact: James MacLeod
