In the last two years, the Prince Edward Island Liquor Control Commission has raised over $33,000 for Island Rivers – Worth Protecting, which funds Atlantic Salmon Conservation Foundation projects in the province.
“It is great to see not only the continued success and interest in this program, but a significant increase in the funds raised over last year’s campaign,” said Robert Henderson, minister responsible for the Prince Edward Island Liquor Control Commission. “The commission is pleased to support this fundraising campaign that benefits the Island’s natural resources.”
A total of $20,400 was raised during the 2012 program this fall.
“We look forward to continuing our work in Prince Edward Island and will be using these funds to support projects in 2013,” said Atlantic Salmon Conservation Foundation executive director, Stephen Chase. “The foundation looks forward to reviewing project submissions from interested groups in the new year.”
This is the second year of a five-year commitment by the PEILCC to support Island Rivers – Worth Protecting, which sees participating suppliers donate a portion of proceeds from the sale of selected brands during the fall initiative.
