During recent Heritage Day celebrations, the PEI Museum once again honoured those who preserve our heritage buildings, use the written word to describe our rich history and those who give endless hours to a wide variety of heritage related activities across the province.
Lieutenant Governor, Barbara Hagerman, officially proclaimed Monday, February 18, 2008 as Heritage Day and presented 2007 Awards at Eptek Art & Culture Centre in Summerside.
There are three general categories of awards: architecture, activities, and writing. Multiple awards can be presented in each of the three categories.
2007 awards were presented as follows:
Architectural Preservation
• Holy Trinity Church Committee, Holy Trinity Church, Alma
• Robert and Martha Carnie for Silas Sewell Robertson House, Kingsboro
• Marshfield Pioneer Cemetery Committee, Marshfield Pioneer Cemetery

In addition, outstanding contributions in the areas of architecture, genealogy and performance-related activities may be recognized with awards presented in memory of Irene Rogers, Mary Cornfoot Brehaut and Wendell Boyle, respectively. This year, only the Mary Cornfoot Brehaut prize for genealogy was awarded. An individual may also be recognized each year with the Award of Honour.

• George Sanborn, contributions to genealogy resources of Islanders in New England
Award of Honour
• Allan Graham, for a lifetime of support for cultural and heritage activities, community history projects in West Prince area, provincial heritage organizations and contributions to history of the railway on PEI.
