PEI Christmas On The Internet

* Economic Development [to Jul 1998]
The Government of Prince Edward Island is doing its part to spread some Christmas cheer. The Internet Christmas Page has been expanded to include a Christmas screen saver of PEI pictures, recipes from The Guardian and articles from the Voice for Island Seniors. Additional material will continue to be added to the site in order to provide a flavour of Christmas on PEI.

"Our most popular Christmas feature is our electronic Christmas cards," said Wes MacAleer, Minister of Economic Development and Tourism. "Since Sunday, December 1, we have enabled Internet users throughout the world to send Christmas greetings. Thousands have already done so."

The Christmas Guest Register is just as popular as the Christmas card feature. "We have received messages from all over the world including Korea, Brazil, Indonesia and Australia. We are very pleased that our web site is so popular with Internet users," said Minister MacAleer.

One Internet user from Ontario said, "It is nice to be able to visit PEI whenever I like. I still have family there so I guess a part of me is still on the Island. Once an Islander always an Islander. I will be using more of your Christmas material as it is very interesting. I would like to wish each and every one on the Island a very Merry Christmas for 1996."

Minister MacAleer concluded, "I encourage all Islanders to visit our site at http://www.gov.pe.ca/christmas/ and spread their own Christmas cheer through the Internet."
