The PEI Department of Health’s Epidemiology Unit is currently conducting research to evaluate primary health care initiatives on PEI. As part of this research, 3000 Islanders aged 18 and over who visited a physician in the past year, were randomly selected to participate in a survey of patient care. Mailing of the survey will begin the week of February 6, 2006.
The PEI Primary Care Questionnaire includes questions on access, communication, wait times, satisfaction, and prevention activities, and will take about 20 minutes to complete. “We would like to hear about Islanders’ experiences at health centres and doctor’s offices,” says Dr. Linda Van Til, Epidemiologist, PEI Department of Health. “This is an ideal opportunity for Islanders to share their opinions on important health services.“
Participation in the questionnaire is voluntary and all information obtained will be kept strictly confidential. Participants will be asked to complete the questionnaire by February 28, 2006.
The survey is a repeat of the patient questionnaire that many Islanders completed in the fall of 2003. The results of both of these surveys will be released to the public in the fall of 2006.
