August 16, 2001 * Development and Technology [to Apr 2008]Production at the Little Christo's pizza plant in DeSable has been temporarily suspended by the court-appointed receivers, PricewaterhouseCoopers. Negotiations with the successful bidder have been ultimately unsuccessful. This recent development has forced a suspension in operations until the receivers can review the remaining options for the plant. The company was placed into receivership in April, and the Province was hopeful that the operation would be salvaged. "Naturally, I'm disappointed with this latest development," said the Honourable Mike Currie, Minister of Development and Technology. "It was hoped that new owners would be in place by now and that the plant would be back in full production. My main concern now is to find alternate employment for the 60 people who work there." Minister Currie said the Province has already contacted a number of Island businesses on behalf of these workers.Media Contact: Jacinta Keough
