Nouveau Wines Available November 15 at PEILCC Stores

Five 2001 "Nouveau" wines, all Beaujolais Nouveau from France, will be available at most PEI Liquor Control Commission stores across Prince Edward Island starting the morning of Thursday, November 15th, 2001. Beaujolais Nouveau wines are the first to be released from the new vintage each year, celebrating the completion of the grape harvest. Beaujolais Nouveau Wines are always released on the third Thursday in November.

The "Nouveau" wine tradition began many years ago in the vineyards of the Beaujolais region of France when local wine makers developed a quick maturing wine to celebrate the completion of the grape harvest with the workers. They called the new wine "Beaujolais Nouveau".

Over the years, the annual release of the Beaujolais Nouveau has evolved into an international event. Today, Beaujolais Nouveau accounts for more than one-third of the world wide wine sales from the Beaujolais region.

The five wines released this Thursday are very reasonably priced: Beaujolais Nouveau Drouhin at $17.65, Beaujolais Nouveau Duboeuf at $16.65, Beaujolais Nouveau Laboure-Roi at $15.35, Beaujolais Nouveau Bouchard Aine at $15.35 and Beaujolais Nouveau Mommessen at $15.30. Quantities of these wines are limited; interested customers are advised to shop early to avoid disappointment. If the store nearest you does not carry these wines, please consult the manager and he/she will be pleased to acquire them for you.

Aaron Trafton representing Beaujolais Nouveau Bouchard will be at the Oak Tree store Thursday morning at 10:00 a.m. along with CEO Wayne MacDougall to officially launch the release of the Beaujolais Nouveau wines.
