Richard Brown, Minister of Environment, Energy and Forestry is inviting Islanders to submit nominations for the 2009 Canadian Council of Ministers of the Environment Pollution Prevention Awards.
The awards, which recognize innovation and leadership in pollution prevention, will be awarded in Charlottetown at a gala banquet and ceremony hosted by the Council at the annual Canadian Pollution Prevention Roundtable on June 15, 2009.
“I know that around this province there are businesses and groups that are making an extra effort to reduce waste, control emissions and cut pollution,” said Minister Brown.
“If your organization is an environmental leader, or if you know of a company that deserves recognition, we want to hear about it,” he added.
Applications for the 13th annual Pollution Prevention Awards, presented by the Canadian Council of Ministers of the Environment (CCME), are now being accepted. These awards recognize businesses and organizations showing leadership and innovation in pollution prevention (P2) in up to seven categories.
• Micro-Business - 1 to 9 employees
• Small Business - 10 to 49 employees
• Medium Business - 50 to 500 employees
• Large Business - more than 500 employees
