Nominate someone for a P.E.I. Environmental Award

Communities, Land and Environment
Islanders are encouraged to nominate an individual, organization or school for one of this year’s Prince Edward Island Environmental Awards, said Minister of Communities, Land and Environment Robert Mitchell.

“We have countless Islanders who are working hard on a daily basis to protect our beautiful Island setting. These annual awards are an opportunity for us to recognize those who are making an effort to protect, preserve and enhance our environment,” said Minister Mitchell. “Over the next couple of weeks I encourage Islanders to submit nominations for anyone they believe deserves provincial recognition for their dedication to our environment.”

There are three categories in which to nominate someone – as an individual, organization or school. To be eligible for an award, the individual, school or organization must be instrumental in: identifying, reducing, solving or avoiding an environmental problem; demonstrating consistent responsible environmental management practices; and/or promoting public awareness, understanding and active concern for the enhancement and protection of the environment. In addition, the review committee will also consider the nominees’ long-term service and commitment; voluntary contributions; and innovative approach.

Award recipients will be chosen by a selection committee composed of members of the Environmental Advisory Council.

This year’s deadline for nominations is Sunday, May 1. For more details and for nomination forms please visit www.gov.pe.ca/environmentalawards or call 902-368-5028.
