New Web Site Launched for Comprehensive Education and Training Strategy

* Education [to Apr 2008]
A new Web site featuring several background papers prepared as part of the Comprehensive Education and Training Strategy was launched earlier today.

The Comprehensive Education and Training Strategy advisory committee, established in May of this year, commissioned the development of a series of background papers dealing with a wide variety of issues, from employer sponsored learning to PEI's changing labour market and labour force, and can be accessed on line at www.gov.pe.ca/trainingstrategy/ or by calling (902) 626 2500.

The next phase of the Comprehensive Education and Training Strategy involves a series of stakeholder focus group sessions. These sessions will be taking place from November 6 to December 14. Members of the public are invited to submit comments via the web site or written brief. Briefs may be submitted to: Comprehensive Education and Training Strategy, c/o HR Associates Inc., 1 Harbourside, Charlottetown PE C1A 8R4.

The Comprehensive Education and Training Strategy is a project of the Canada/PEI Labour Market Development Agreement and is being developed in partnership with the Department of Education. The strategy focuses on post-secondary education and skills training and will help Islanders and Island post-secondary institutions prepare for the opportunities available in the expanding knowledge-based economy and other employment arenas. A team from HR Associates Inc. is conducting the necessary research and consultations.
