September 17, 1996 * Economic Development [to Jul 1998]During the month of August this year, the new Visitor Information Centre (VIC) on the Charlottetown Waterfront saw 10 percent more people visit their location than in the old location during the same month in 1995. This was the largest increase at any VIC in PEI. "With the many festivals and activities that are planned in the area, we were confident that it would be one of the busiest VICs in the province," said Robert Morrissey, Minister of Economic Development and Tourism. "The facility was designed to be easily accessed from Charlottetown's newest tourist attraction, Confederation Landing Park." The main Visitor Information Centre for the Charlottetown area was moved to the Old Stone House on the Charlottetown Waterfront earlier this summer. It was re-located from Oak Tree Place and is open year-round. Media Contact: Ann Stanley
