The Charlottetown Waterfront has been graced with yet another beautiful addition. The Old Stone House, which was built in 1876 and is located next to Confederation Landing, has been transformed into the main Visitor Information Centre for the Charlottetown area.

At a news conference held today, Hon. Paul Connolly, Minister responsible for the Office of Higher Education, Training and Adult Learning; David McInnis, chair of the Charlottetown Area Development Corporation; and Gary MacLeod, chair of the Capital Commission, officially cut the ribbon to open the new facility.

"With the many festivals and activities that are planned for the area, this is sure to be one of the busiest VICs in the province," said Minister Connolly. "This facility has been designed to be easily accessed from Charlottetown's newest tourist attraction, Confederation Landing Park."

"We are very pleased to welcome Tourism PEI as one of our newest tenants to the Charlottetown Waterfront," said David McInnis. "The VIC fits in well with our long-range plans to redevelop the area."

The new Charlottetown centre was re-located from Oak Tree Place and will be open year-round.
