Tourism PEI and the Charlottetown Airport Authority unveiled the new tourism display at the Charlottetown Airport today. Wes MacAleer, Minister of Community Services and Attorney General, representing Minister of Fisheries and Tourism, Kevin MacAdam, joined members of the tourism industry and the Charlottetown Chamber of Commerce to take a look at the contemporary new tourism display.
"We are very pleased to unveil this wonderful new display. The all-important first impression will be a very positive one for our visitors arriving by air," noted Minister MacAleer. "The provincial government and the Charlottetown Airport Authority have been working together to redesign the display and we think this dramatic result will provide an excellent warm welcome."
The wood materials, carpeting and the very colourful images of Prince Edward Island reinforce the key tourism messages.
"We always emphasize the Island's intense reds, blues and greens in our promotional materials," said Kevin MacAdam, Minister of Fisheries and Tourism, "and this exhibit is no exception. The design is quite flexible and we believe will be very inviting for both arrivals and those waiting for flights."
The Crafts Council of PEI, The Anne of Green Gables Licensing Authority and PEI Business Development Inc. provided items for display columns while the visual elements and structure were funded through Tourism PEI and constructed by Atlantic Store Decor in Poole's Corner. The images are all by local photographers and represent the various touring regions of Prince Edward Island.
"This will certainly add colour and character to the airport arrivals area," said Neil Buchanan, Chairman of the Charlottetown Airport Authority. "We are proud of our airport, and this new exhibit will only reinforce the welcome we want to offer to visitors."
