Dr. Mohamed Naser, internal medicine specialist, began practice this month at the Prince County Hospital.
“One of our main priorities is to provide good access to specialists close to home,” said Health and Wellness Minister Robert Henderson. “We are very pleased that Dr. Mohamed Naser has chosen to relocate from Ontario, filling the complement of five general internists at the Prince County Hospital.”
Dr. Naser completed his residency in Internal Medicine in Qatar in 2009 and practiced there until moving to Ontario. He completed his Clinical Fellowship in Adult Nephrology at the University of Toronto in 2015.
After practicing in Prince Edward Island as a locum physician for several weeks this year, Dr. Naser made the decision to relocate here permanently.
“Prince Edward Island holds a special place in my heart,” said Dr. Naser. “It is wonderful to be able to call PEI home as it is one of the most beautiful places in Canada to be able to live and to practice.”
Internal medicine is the medical specialty recognized as experts in the diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic diseases.
There are 246 physicians currently working in Prince Edward Island. In 2015, there were 19 new physicians who began practice in the province.
