Prince Edward Island’s employment website, PEIJobLink.ca, is expanding its services to include new information to assist job seekers and employers.
The website now offers current information about the agriculture, fisheries and transportation sectors and will soon include details on jobs in the tourism sector. New information is also available to assist mature workers find employment. PEIJobLink.ca was originally launched in August, 2007, to profile emerging sectors such as aerospace, bioscience, information technology, skilled trades and manufacturing.
Richard Brown, Minister of Innovation and Advanced Learning, said PEIJobLink.ca is proving to be a valuable tool as the Province of Prince Edward Island strives to increase employment opportunities and attract new companies.
“The updated website allows job seekers and businesses to be even more proactive when dealing with the changes and the challenges of the labour force,” said Minister Brown. “We’re very excited about PEIJobLink.ca which offers a one-stop shopping for programs, services and employment advice.”
PEIJobLink.ca is already proving to be a success and has experienced increased traffic since its launch in August, 2007. To date, more than 2,500 job seekers have registered on the site and 202 new job opportunities have been listed for more than 140 registered Island businesses. The easy-to-navigate, interactive website averages 600 hits per day and those numbers are expected to jump significantly with the launch of the new services.
Job seekers and recruiters can connect with Prince Edward Island’s growing and diversifying economy. The free, interactive service also enables recruiters to connect with qualified people in emerging industries. PEIJobLink.ca features videos of real people in real jobs. Visitors are encouraged to post resumes, make connections, chat with others and read about various career options in the Career Profile Handbook.
