Booking a golf vacation on PEI has just gotten a lot easier, thanks to a new Internet service provided by Daymar Enterprises Inc. Developed by two innovative 21-year-old entrepreneurs, the new software concept now allows customers to completely tailor their golf or vacation package in an easy-to-use reservation service. Their website, EnjoyPEI.com, is changing the way people make reservations and improving upon the services provided to tourists.
At an announcement today at the University of Prince Edward Island, Mark VanWart and Dan James, co-owners and operators of Daymar Enterprises, demonstrated the high tech capabilities of their new software, developed in partnership with silverorange, Inc. Premier Pat Binns and Ministers Don MacKinnon and Mitch Murphy were also there, experiencing first-hand the abilities of this new system.
"EnjoyPEI.com is one of the only websites in North America that lets customers book their golf vacations this way," said Mark VanWart. "Our software lifts the restrictions found on other golf packages and allows the customer to book a completely customized vacation where each component is instantly confirmed."
"The Province is very excited with the new software capabilities developed by these intelligent young business men," said the Honourable Pat Binns, Premier of Prince Edward Island. "It's foresight and ingenuity like this that create profitable new enterprises for our province. This service is not only beneficial for the tourism sector, but showcases the talent and resources of the Island's technology sector as well. I congratulate Daymar Enterprises and look forward to seeing future projects developed by this company."
In its early incubation stage, the EnjoyPEI.com project created at least six jobs in Prince Edward Island, including a customer service team that will be expanded in the summer months. Future growth includes expansion to the other Atlantic provinces, where using the Internet as the distribution medium will allow Daymar to keep a large portion of future jobs right here on the Island.
"Daymar Enterprises demonstrates the value of technology and young people in Prince Edward Island," said the Honourable Don MacKinnon, Minister of Development. "It's important that our province recognize and support employment opportunities for youth, such as Mark and Dan, and encourage self-employment for those willing and able to start successful businesses."
EnjoyPEI.com currently showcases 10 golf courses (including the four provincial courses) and nine accommodation facilities. Customers are provided with 24-hour customer service during their stay on Prince Edward Island. This customer service is available exclusively to EnjoyPEI.com customers and deals with any problems or concerns a customer might have during their vacation.
"Technology is not an end in itself, but rather a tool we can use to benefit and enhance Island businesses," said Environment and Technology Minister Mitch Murphy. "Daymar Enterprises has taken a traditional Island economic sector and applied innovative technology to improve it."
This new service also includes a comprehensive resource outlining the golf courses and accommodation facilities participating in this venture. The website provides comprehensive information about selected golf courses and accommodations throughout the booking process. And customers are responsible for only one bill. The entire cost of the vacation is paid via credit card to EnjoyPEI.com rather than having the consumer pay for each component individually.
