September 17, 1999 * Agriculture and Forestry [to Oct 2003]Agriculture and Forestry Minister Eric Hammill has announced that Peter Boswall has been appointed to a new position as Field Crop Development Officer with the department. The appointment is effective November 1. Boswall is currently the department's Potato Specialist, and he will continue with those responsibilities until a new specialist is hired. "In this new position, Peter will be identifying opportunities for existing and new field crops which are of benefit to both livestock and potato producers, as recommended by the Round Table on Resource Land Use and Stewardship," said Mr. Hammill. "Identifying higher value field crops will help producers improve rotations and result in improved returns." Boswall completed his Bachelor of Science degree majoring in plant science at Dalhousie University. He also holds a diploma in agricultural engineering from the Nova Scotia Agricultural College. He has been with the department for 12 years, beginning as the Forage Crop Specialist. "Peter's extensive experience, combined with his knowledge and interest in forage and cereal crop production, makes him a valuable member of the agricultural team who work with the farming community of Prince Edward Island," said Mr. Hammill.Media Contact: Wayne MacKinnon
