Government approval to begin the planning process to build a new early childhood to grade 12 school in Souris is a welcome announcement for the families and students who attend the Souris Family of Schools, said Allan Campbell, Minister of Innovation and Advanced Learning.
“I would like to express my appreciation for the excellent contribution of the parents in the area to the Eastern School District,” said Campbell, the MLA for the Souris-Elmira district. “Parents took a proactive, collaborative, research-based approach and made recommendations based upon educational programming and children’s learning.”
A new modern school in Souris will offer students equitable access to more specialized programming and the resources needed to deliver high-quality education, he said.
“I have great respect for our teachers and administrative staff. It is our responsibility to equip them with the tools they need to provide the best education possible for our students,” he said.
Kindergarten students through to grade 12 students will attend the new school.
“We have an opportunity through our design process and educational programming to become a leader in education with a new modern facility where we can successfully educate and accommodate students from kindergarten through to grade 12,” said Minister Campbell.
