Health and Social Services Minister Mildred Dover announced the appointment today of Mark MacPherson as Chief Executive Officer of the Eastern Kings Health Region.
As Chief Executive Officer, Mr. MacPherson will be responsible for the management of all health services in the region including the Souris Hospital, Colville Manor, public health nursing, mental health, child and family services, financial assistance, home care, addictions and housing.
"Mr. MacPherson has an extensive background in senior health care management including fifteen years experience as a chief executive officer," said the Minister, "There are many innovative initiatives taking place in this region, and we look forward with pleasure to working with Mr. MacPherson in serving the people of Eastern Kings."
Mr. MacPherson previously served as chief executive officer of the P.E.I. Red Cross from 1988 to 1997, and as president and chief executive officer of the Canadian College of Health Service Executives from 1982 to 1988. He holds a Masters in Health Administration and Bachelor of Medical Science. He and his wife, Helen live in Stratford with their four children.
Mr. MacPherson replaces Susan Birt who recently joined the Department of Health and Social Services on a temporary assignment.
