New Career Fair Focused on Health Sector Jobs

UPEI Science Students are invited to learn firsthand about health care career opportunities available for them to pursue in Prince Edward Island, says Health and Wellness Minister Carolyn Bertram.

The Department of Health and Wellness, Recruitment and Retention Secretariat, collaboratively with the PEI Health Sector Council will be hosting the Career Fair on Wednesday, March 2 at the K.C. Irving Building at UPEI from 11:30 to 1:30 p.m.

“Through this career fair, we are encouraging science students to explore opportunities and careers in our health sector,” said Minister Bertram. “They will get to speak one-on-one with health professionals from across the province, and learn about the many different careers and training opportunities available to them.”

The UPEI Science Student Career Fair will have nineteen professions represented, all of which are practising professions in the province of Prince Edward Island. Health professionals will be on site and will be available to speak to the science students, as well as provide them with an overview of what it is like to choose a career in their particular health field.

The professions represented at the Career Fair will be: Biomedical Engineering Technology, Dietetics, Dosimetry, Family Medicine, Medical Lab Technology, Medical Physicist, Occupational Therapy, Pharmacy, Physiotherapy, Psychology, Prosthetics/Orthotics, Physics Assistant, Radiological Technology, Radiation Therapy, Nursing, Respiratory Therapy, Speech Language Pathology, Specialist Medicine and Social Work.
