As part of an initiative to extend the Island tourism season, Tourism PEI has published a new booklet called Summer is only part of our story. A comprehensive listing of 800 Island tourist operations open to at least the end of September, the booklet should quickly dispel the notion that the Island shuts down after Old Home Week.
"Tourism PEI is committed to extending the season," said Robert Morrissey, Minister of Economic Development and Tourism. "We are very pleased that Island operators obviously see opportunities beyond August. The 800 accommodations, restaurants and shops who stay open longer represent approximately 80 percent of all tourism businesses."
Starting in mid-August, the 28-page book has been included in all information packages sent out in response to inquiries on the toll-free line. The Summer is only part of our story publication is also available at all Visitor Information Centres and from Distribution Services at Tourism PEI.
"We encourage operators to have a supply on hand to help our fall visitors choose activities, dining and accommodations," said Minister Morrissey.
