New Board Chair announced for Health PEI

Phyllis Horne has been selected to be the new Board Chair for Health PEI, says Health and Wellness Minister Doug Currie.

“Ms. Horne will assume her duties as Chair of the Board for Health PEI, effective immediately,” said Minister Currie. “She has served on the board for the last three years and brings a depth of knowledge and experience to the role of Board Chair. I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Phyllis on her new role.”

Ms. Horne replaces outgoing chair, Dr. Donna Murnaghan, who stepped down this summer to accept a new challenge as Dean of Nursing and professor at Thompson River University in Kamloops, British Columbia.

“We are very pleased that Phyllis has accepted this new challenge,” said Dr. Richard Wedge, CEO of Health PEI. “I am looking forward to working with Ms. Horne and continuing our efforts to ensure that we are providing access to quality, safe health care services to all Islanders.”

Ms. Horne says she is looking forward to continuing to work closely with the board members on the important work of building a sustainable, accessible, health care system. “Moving forward, I would like to continue to build on and strengthen Board engagement with the community and focus on finding opportunities for partnership and collaboration to achieve Health PEI’s strategic plan.”

With the appointment of Ms. Horne to the chair position, there is now a vacancy on Health PEI’s board. For those who may be interested in becoming a member of the Health PEI Board, visit our website at www.healthpei.ca/boardrecruitment.
