Municipal Election Information Cards

Municipal elections will be held across the province on Monday, November 3, 2003. To be eligible to vote in the municipal elections, a person must be 18 years of age or over on Election day (November 3); be a Canadian citizen, and be ordinarily resident in his or her city or town for a period of six months preceding the date of the election.

The cities of Charlottetown and Summerside and the towns of Cornwall and Stratford will not be conducting a door-to-door confirmation of electors for their municipal elections to be held on Monday November 3, 2003 but have opted to use the provincial list of electors compiled for the 29 September 2003 Provincial General Election.

Today Elections PEI will be mailing Municipal Election Information Cards to each civic address within the cities of Charlottetown and Summerside and the towns of Stratford and Cornwall. The Municipal Election Information Cards will be addressed to the Municipal Elector(s) at each civic address. These cards will notify the elector(s) residing at the civic address of specific information concerning the municipal election in these four major municipalities:

1. The electoral ward of the municipality;

2. Municipal Election Day which states the date and hours the poll is open plus the poll number and name as well as the polling station location;

3. Advance poll days stating the date(s) and hours the poll is open and where the advance polling station is located;

4. Special Information indication the returning officers name, office location and telephone numbers.
