The Tourism Industry Association of Canada has selected five Prince Edward Island tourism organizations as finalists for the 2010 Awards for Tourism Excellence, says Minister of Tourism and Culture Robert Vessey.
“Our Island organizations are to be commended for their high standards which have made them finalists for Canada’s top tourism awards,” said the minister. “ We had a banner year in tourism through the joint efforts of the tourism industry and government. Our small size does not prevent us from competing with the best; it only motivates us to work more strategically as a province to achieve new levels of success.”
The Tourism Industry Association of Canada recently announced the finalists for The National Awards for Tourism Excellence which are presented by the Toronto Star. The awards recognize people, places, organizations and events that have gone above and beyond to offer a superior tourism experience to travelers in Canada.
There are 14 award categories and three finalists are named in each category. The Prince Edward Island finalists are:
Cow’s Inc – Business of the Year Award;
Confederation Centre of the Arts – National Cultural Tourism Award;
Rodd Hotels and Resorts – Excellence in Human Resources Development Award;
Links at Crowbush Cove – Sustainable Tourism Award; and
Tourism PEI’s LIVE! with Regis and Kelly marketing initiative – Marketing Campaign of the Year Award.
The winners will be announced at the awards dinner on Tuesday, November 2, 2010, in Gatineau, Quebec.
