Tourism Industry Association Executive Director, Don Cudmore, is very deserving of the honour of being inducted into the Canadian Tourism Hall of Fame, says Tourism and Culture Minister Robert Vessey.
"Don Cudmore has proven time and again that he is an integral part of the Island tourism industry," said Minister Vessey. "He has been influential in establishing strong partnerships among tourism operators and between the tourism industry and government."
Beginning his career as a cook at the Confederation Centre of the Arts and later with the Island hotel company, Rodd Hotels and Resorts, Don went on to assume the position of Executive Director of the Tourism Industry Association of Prince Edward Island (TIAPEI) in 1996. Under his leadership, TIAPEI has created professional development opportunities for tourism operators and employees, raised awareness of the tourism industry with the general public and ensured that all tourism operators have a voice within the industry.
"My department is very proud to continue our working relationship with Don and TIAPEI," said Minister Vessey. "Don's experience is a valuable resource to the Island tourism industry and we would like to thank him for his continued dedication.”
Created in 2006 by the Tourism Industry Association of Canada, the Canadian Tourism Hall of Fame publicly recognizes those individuals who have made tourism an important part of their life's work and whose actions have had a positive impact on the industry. The Tourism Industry Association of Canada (TIAC) was founded in 1930 to encourage the development of the tourism industry in Canada.
Don Cudmore will be inducted into the Canadian Tourism Hall of Fame this week at the Tourism Industry Association of Canada’s (TIAC) National Awards for Tourism Excellence in Gatineau, Quebec.
