Minister Elmer MacFadyen Announces Appointments to the Workers Compensation Board

The Honourable Elmer MacFadyen, Minister of Community and Cultural Affairs and Minister responsible for the Workers Compensation Act, announced today, appointments to the Workers Compensation Board. The Minister announced that the board will increase to seven members from the current five members with equal representation from employees and employers.

Employee representatives will include Joyce McCardle, Sandy MacKay and Charlene McInnis. Employer representatives will include Blake Craig, Donna Butler and Dan Hughes. The Honourable Jim Lee was also reappointed to the board to serve as Chair.

"It is my pleasure to welcome Joyce McCardle, Blake Craig, Donna Butler and the honourable Jim Lee back to the Workers Compensation Board as well as welcoming new members Dan Hughes, Sandy MacKay and Charlene McInnis. As Minister, I would also like to express my appreciation to all individuals for their past service on the board," said Minister MacFadyen. "The appointments will also be staggered to allow for increased continuity when new members are added to the board."

Minister MacFadyen stressed the importance of the Workers Compensation Board to the Island economy and workforce. "The Workers Compensation Board is a vital component to the success and continuation of a strong and stable workforce in Prince Edward Island and is supportive of a safe working environment across the province."
